![]() It was certainly an uphill climb, but I’ve been very fortunate to have a solid network of friends and colleagues to help see me through along the way. Ultimately, I was able to secure a stable position as lead assistant at a music studio in Burbank which enabled me to balance the workload and stay afloat until I could focus predominantly on freelance writing. My first few years were quite intense having multiple casual jobs and assistantships while trying to work on my own freelance projects as well. Working in entertainment is never the easy path. Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way? Since starting professionally, I’ve worked on a multitude of projects in various capacities including, American Girl, Chef’s Table, Devious Maids, Beyblade Burst Evolutions, Diary of a Wimpy Kid the Long Haul, The Walking Dead, Escape at Dannemora, Snowpiercer, Cowboy Bebop, and various projects in collaboration with Pantawit Music Productions. Most recently, I’ve arranged strings alongside Yoko Kanno on a viral arrangement of The Real Folk Blues that made it to number one on Amazon Music in Japan. This skill proved invaluable as I matured to assisting and ghostwriting in Los Angeles.Īfter my undergrad, I studied at the USC Thornton Screen Scoring program for a year, gaining my degree certificate and a multitude of connections that helped set me on the path I am currently forging today. I still heavily favored the more traditional approach of writing for live musicians, but he helped me to learn the value of being able to sequence and generate polished scores on your own. ![]() While there I studied under Mark Buys, a prolific film composer and musician in his own right, who set me on the path towards film composition and digital music production. Austin State University for my undergrad with one year being spent abroad at the Conservatorium of Music in Hobart, Tasmania. I then went on to study composition with Dr. ![]() Senior year, I turned my interests towards writing and arranging, making full fledged arrangements of my favorite film tunes for our concert band to play. I focused on multiple instruments at the time including, piano, guitar, trumpet, and voice and went on to compete in state competitions holding the record for most state medals won at my high school. I then got into high school band playing trumpet. I got started in music from an early age, pecking out my favorite tunes on the piano from age three and continuing on to learn pieces by ear predominantly. I am an aficionado of film, video games and the music that accompanies them. Today we’d like to introduce you to Lance Treviño.
